Five Things Holding My Life Together Right Now (That You’re Welcome to Borrow)

These aren’t productivity hacks or self-care rituals. These are five ordinary things that keep the week moving forward in my house without burning me out.

  1. The same three breakfasts, rotated without guilt

Oatmeal, yogurt with fruit, eggs and toast. That’s it. Everyone eats. No chaos. I never “don’t know what to make.”

  2. The 30-second reset

Every time we leave a room, we pick up three things. Not everything. Just three. It’s been enough to keep things feeling livable.

  3. The music rule

If the vibe is falling apart, music goes on. Sometimes old jazz, sometimes movie scores, sometimes “Bluey’s Omelette.” The energy always shifts.

  4. “Change your location, not your mood”

Step outside. Switch rooms. Lie on the floor. It works for adults, too.

  5. Default dinners with no shame

Naan pizzas. Boxed tomato soup with grilled cheese. Pasta with the same sauce. Everyone’s fed. No one’s angry. That’s the win.

If anything in this list works for you, take it. If you’ve got something that works in your house, tell me. I’d love to try it.
